Conference Purpose
The purpose of the conference is to share successes, strategies and lessons learned that can prevent obesity in underserved communities across the State of Delaware.
This educational event will convert and inspire advocates for obesity prevention to collaborate and strengthen partnerships, and networks for statewide public health planning and leadership.
Target Audience
The Conference will draw a diverse mix of health care providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and dietitians) including advocates, researchers, administrators, medical device and pharmaceutical industry leaders, managed care company executives, and others.
Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to do the following:
• Summarize the recent research on obesity causes, including genetic, environmental, cultural and biologic factors;
• Discuss the role of diet and exercise in management strategies;
• Critically appraise the epidemiology and causes of obesity as well as management strategies for prevention and treatment;
• Provide an analysis of public health care programs including cost-effectiveness and political implications;
• Compare and contrast the efficacy and side effect data of treatment options;
• Create an effective management strategy for reducing the incidence and prevalence of obesity.

REGISTRATION
$35 per person in advance, $10 per student (ID required) pre-registration has ended; however, on-site registration is available on the days of the conference.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint-sponsorship of the Medical Society of Delaware and Delaware State University. The Medical Society of Delaware is accredited by the ACCME to provide CME activities for physicians.
The Medical Society of Delaware designates this live activity for a maximum of 10.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
