Delaware State University invites parents of current students to join us Saturday, March 1, 2014, for our third annual Parent University.

March 1. Registration begins at 9 a.m.; the day concludes at 3:15 p.m.
Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center, 2nd floor Parlor C, on the DSU campus

At Parent University, you'll learn more about:

• Parent-to-Parent Mentoring
Presented by Dr. Robin Williams, first lady
Unveiling of a new Parent Mentoring Project

• Shining the Spotlight on Academic Rigor
A glimpse from faculty members into the academic rigor of their programs and their classroom expectations

• Healthy and Safe Hornets
Updates and questions answered regarding health and wellness initiatives, insurance, security alerts and some new safety projects that the University is involved in on behalf of your students

• Destination Graduation
Career and academic advisement, curriculum guides, early alerts, satisfactory academic progress (SAP), senior audits and more. What does it all mean and why is it all necessary for graduation? Terms defined and questions answered with a step-by-step plan for ensuring that your students reach their destination successfully and on time.

• A complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
There is no fee to attend Parent University.

The University’s Honors Program will sponsor the showing of “African Genesis: Journey of the Songhai People, Part II: Ghana, Door of No Return,” a 90-minute documentary that features the life-changing, emotional tour of 200 Americans of African descent who are following a lost tribe of their ancestors back to the Gold Coast’s “Stone of Tears” trail on Ghana’s western coast. Travel with them as they walk in the footsteps of their enslaved forefathers and are exposed to the same gut-wrenching nightmares. Witness their transformational experience. More about the movie:
