When do I arrive?

Check-in will be held in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Center on Thursday, August 25, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Residential Students: Check in Thursday, August 25, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. before going to your residence hall.
  • Commuter Students: Check in Thursday, August 25, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

What if I have not satisfied my financial obligations or have not submitted my health form
or final (official) transcripts by Welcome Days?

  • Residential Students: All new residential students must have their financial obligations satisfied with the Office of Student Accounts, health forms on file in the Office of Student Health Services and final official transcripts to the Office of Admissions by Thursday, August 25. If not, you will not be “cleared” to move in to the residential halls, participate in Welcome Days or begin classes. Therefore, DO NOT report to the residence halls on Thursday, August 25, if you have not satisfied your financial obligations, have not turned in your completed health form to the Office of Student Health Services or submitted your final official transcripts to the Office of Admissions. You must continue to communicate with the Offices of Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Admissions and/or Housing to gain clearance as soon as possible.

NOTE: Please know that if you arrive after 5 p.m. and your financial obligations to the University have not been satisfied, or if you have not submitted a completed Health Form to the Office of Student Health Services and turned in your final official transcripts to the Office of Admissions, you will not be permitted to move in to the residence halls. You will be required to find some other form of lodging until you have satisfied your obligations to the University.
  • Commuter Students: All new commuters must have their financial obligations satisfied with the Office of Student Accounts, health forms on file in the Office of Student Health Services and final official transcripts submitted to the Office of Admissions by Thursday, August 25. You will not receive a University ID card until these obligations have been met.

Do I need to bring anything special with me for Welcome Days activities?

Yes. There will be a number of exciting activities during Welcome Days for which you will need specific attire. On Saturday, August 27, we want you to show some school pride and wear your “Welcome Days” T-shirt during the Class of 2020 photo and community service activities. You will receive this shirt at Welcome Days check-in. Sunday, August 28, is a big day!  At the completion of all Welcome Days activities, you will participate in the final phase of your transition. You will be inducted officially into the DSU family during the Hornet Induction Ceremony, a special ceremony that symbolizes your “Rite of Passage,” and you will attend the President’s Reception. You will need to wear the following professional attire in order to be allowed to attend or participate in these two events:

The fall bill is due on August 4 for new students. Please keep in mind that using personal checks to enroll in the Tuition Payment Plan may take up to 10 business days to clear. Therefore, payment plan enrollments (with personal checks) after Thursday, August 4, at 4 p.m. ET may result in significant delays in Welcome Days check-in on August 25. This may also hinder a student’s access to campus services (i.e. Housing, Dining, etc.).
