College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sci. Wins Battle of the Colleges

Dr. Stephen Taylor, Dr. Marshall Stevenson and Dr. Francine Edwards of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences proudly hold the Battle of the College's trophy for being the top fundraising college in the competition. Under the leadership Dr. Stevenson, dean, and co-chairs Dr. Taylor and Dr. Edwards, the CAHSS topped the other colleges by raising $8,523.01.

The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences has come out on top as the winner of the inaugural Battle of the Colleges at Delaware State University.    A total of 243 donors participated in the Battle of the Colleges to raise a total of $28,438.87 between April 15 and May 20. The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences won the competition by raising $8,523.01.     “The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences took the competition very seriously, and the faculty and staff worked aggressively to ensure that we won this inaugural event,” said Dr. Marshall Stevenson, dean of the winning college.   The winning college will hold the championship trophy for one year and the trophy will be transferred to the 2014 winner or stay with the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences if they win for a second consecutive year.   Battle of the Colleges was a competition between the five academic colleges at DSU to raise funds to be used as additional revenue in each of their budgets. The dean of each college will determine the most effective use for the funds in support of the overall mission of the college and University.   While the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences won the inaugural Battle of the Colleges, all of the academic colleges are winners, as they have each raised additional funds that will help better serve DSU students.    The Battle of the Colleges fundraising performances were as follows:                                                                      College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences    $8,523.01 College of Business   $6,720.00 College of Agriculture & Related Sciences $5,992.00 College of Education, Health & Public Policy   $3,987.86 College of Mathematics, Natural Science & Technology $3,216.00 TOTAL        $28,438.87 Thanks go out to all the faculty, staff, students and friends of DSU who supported the colleges.   The competition was the brainchild of Institutional Advancement’s Office of Development as part of the annual giving effort.
