DSU Extension's Family and Consumer Science Program covers a broad array of issues affecting everyday life. We offer programs on nutrition, food safety and health. We have the FF-NEWS (Families First – Nutrition Education and Wellness System) program, which provides nutrition food safety and fitness education to primarily third grade students in low-income schools. We also have a workshop series called Small Steps to Health and Wealth, which provides research-based information and activities to improve physical and financial well-being.
Our research-based educational programs address parenting, childcare, family economic stability and stress management. Programs in this area will strengthen the capacity of families to nurture, support and guide their members throughout their lives.
