Dean Distinguished Lecturer Series 2012-EmeryNBrown
The Dean's Distinguished Lecturer Series continues its Fall 2012 season with guest speaker Dr. Emery N. Brown, a renowned anesthesiologist-statistician, who will be on the main campus of Delaware State University, Dover, DE, on Thursday, November 15th. Dr. Brown will conduct a technical lecture at 11 a.m. and a general public seminar at 6 p.m. in Lecture Hall 223, Luna I. Mishoe Science Center South. His talks will focus on his research on developing signal processing algorithms to characterize how the brain represents and transmits information. His experimental research uses a systems neuroscience approach to study how anesthetic drugs act in the brain to create the state of general anesthesia.
Dr. Brown is the Warren M. Zapol Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a professor of computational neuroscience and health sciences and technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an anesthesiologist at MGH.
Both the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. events take place in Mishoe Science Center South Lecture Hall 223. These events are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
