Delaware State University’s Office of Public Safety provides for the safety of its students, faculty, and staff. To do this, the University has created a comprehensive, three-tiered security system:

  • A fully certified police department, including 18 licensed law enforcement officers with all the powers of any municipal law enforcement agency.
     
  • A fully staffed security force that provides around-the-clock coverage of the 400-acre campus.
     
  • A group of 20-plus Student Cadets, which provides evening escorts, assistance with university events, and extra security within the student population.

If students need to file formal complaints, they may do so using our complaint form.

Public Safety also keeps comprehensive records on all law enforcement/security activities and actions, in accordance with the Clery Act federal law.

Security Enforcement of Campus and University Rules and Ethics (S.E.C.U.R.E.)

The S.E.C.U.R.E. Program began November 13, 2005. This program is designed to improve safety on campus by detecting safety hazards, enforcing parking and roadway violations, and to inform the campus community of Public Safety activities along with timely warning notification alerts..
