Application Procedures and Policies for Undergraduate Transfer Admissions

Applicants who have previously matriculated at other institutions of higher education will be considered for admission at the University.  Transfer students must submit the following:

  • A completed application;
  • An official high school transcript;
  • Official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended;
  • SAT or ACT test scores if  not transferring in 12 credit hours or more at a GPA of 2.0 or better; and
  • Application fee of $25.00.

Transfer students need to understand the following:

  • The Admissions Office will consider applications from students seeking to transfer from two-year colleges,
       four-year colleges, and universities accredited by their respective regional association.
  • Transfer students must submit transcripts from every college or university that they have attended.
  • Transfer students with less than a 2.00 cumulative GPA will not be offered admission to DSU.
  • College courses that have not been completed within the last ten years will not be accepted automatically for transfer
       credit. Acceptance of such courses for transfer credit will be at the discretion of the department in which the equivalent
       course is offered.
  • The transcripts of each accepted transfer student will be evaluated in relation to the requirements of the specific
       academic program for which the student is accepted. Courses to be transferred must be equivalent to respective
       courses in the degree program of Delaware State University.
  • Credit will not be granted for correspondence courses.
  • In instances where courses from other colleges or universities only partially fulfill general education requirements,
      students will be required to make up the shortage in credit hours in the same or other (elective) courses.
  • Course grades less than "C" will not be accepted as transfer credit.
  • Students who have been placed on academic probation at other institutions will not be considered for admission at
      Delaware State University.
  • Students who have been academically dismissed, suspended, or placed on probation for disciplinary reasons at other
      institutions are not permitted to matriculate for a degree at Delaware State University.
