1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Delaware State University Downtown
300 S. New Street, Dover

On Oct. 19, Delaware State University will rename the current Johnston Building at DSU Downtown after the First Lady who is considered by the institution’s history to be the “Mother” of its Nursing Program – Hattie Dabney Mishoe.

Prior to her arrival to then-Delaware State College in 1960 with her husband, DSC President Dr. Luna I. Mishoe, Mrs. Mishoe served for a number of years in Philadelphia and Baltimore as a registered nurse.

In the early 1970s, President Mishoe asked his wife Hattie to use her experience as an R.N. to lead the development of a Nursing Program at Delaware State College. After methodically moving the University through all the necessary steps and approvals, the DSC Nursing Program became a reality with its first students in 1975. For her leadership contribution, the University is renaming the current home of its Department of Nursing “the Hattie Dabney Mishoe Nursing Hall.”

We hope you can join us for this historic occasion.

Please RSVP by Oct. 13.
