The amounts below include the mandatory fees for every full-time student which are the Student Activity Fee, Student Center Complex Fee, Technology Fee, and Athletic Fee.

Housing

All students who reside in University housing are required to be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester. Students who are enrolled in less than 12 credit hours per semester will be assessed a part-time boarder fee to adjust the student’s account to reflect full-time charges.

Boarding Students: 

Freshmen halls are Jenkins Hall (Co-Ed), Evers Hall (Co-Ed), Warren-Franklin East & West (Co-Ed) and Wynder Towers (Co-Ed Honors). 

Designated areas for upperclassmen in traditional housing are Tubman Laws Hall (Co-Ed) and the Living and Learning Commons (Co-Ed). Upperclassmen with a minimum of 27 credit hours may apply for the University Courtyard Apartments or the University Village Apartments.

HOUSING DEPOSIT: A $200.00 housing deposit is required to secure your housing assignment for the academic year. Housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The housing deposit is non-refundable if not received by June 30.

SECURITY DEPOSIT: A $300.00 security deposit and a $100.00 application fee are required to secure your housing assignment in the University Courtyard or the University Village apartment complexes.

SENIOR CITIZEN’S FEE WAIVER

SENIOR CITIZEN’S FEE WAIVER: In accordance with the State of Delaware Title 14 Chapter 34 law on Free Public Schools, to obtain a senior citizen’s waiver of tuition, a student must be sixty (60) years of age or older. Eligible students who are formal degree candidates, may attend classes for credit or audit without payment of application, course registration or other related fees. Persons enrolled in such program shall be required to pay the cost of all books, supplies, laboratory fees (technology fees are considered as lab fees) and shop fees.

REQUIREMENT FOR SENIOR CITIZEN’S FEE WAIVER: Official proof of age MUST be presented to the Office of Student Accounts. ONLY STUDENTS ENROLLED IN UNDERGRADUATE COURSES AND CERTIFICATION COURSES ARE ELIGIBLE.

The privilege authorized by this subchapter may be granted only on a space available basis if such classes are not filled as of the close of registration. Delaware State University may limit or deny the privilege for courses which are in programs for which a selective admissions criterion has been established.

LAB FEES: Laboratory fees are assessed for some courses to cover the cost of supplies and special facilities. Labs may vary from $10.00 to $20,000.00. The Airway Science Labs vary from $5,000.00 to $20,000.00 per related course.

STUDENT CENTER COMPLEX FEE: Goes toward the cost of the New Strength and Conditioning Facility, Wellness Center and the Student Center.

ATHLETIC FEE: The athletic fee is a general university fee charged to all registered students (full and part time).  The fee helps the University provide support in several areas.  Below are some of the areas that the fee supports:

  • Employment opportunities
  • Increased diversity on campus
  • Enhanced quality of student life
