Homecoming Safety Tips

The Delaware State University Police Department and the Homecoming Committee would like to remind students, alumni and friends to have a safe and happy Homecoming and remember to put “Safety First!”

For the safe enjoyment of Homecoming activities for our campus community, we have added some of enhancements and guidelines: 

  • More than 30 certified police officers from the surrounding jurisdictions will help provide security and safety for the week. 
  • In the event of an emergency, the campus blue light towers are located around the campus. Press the button and speak clearly. 
  • In addition to several ongoing drug and alcohol education activities, there will be entry and random checks for illegal drugs and alcohol.  
  • Weapon checks will be performed at all events. 
  • Cameras, backpacks, large bags and purses are NOT allowed at any homecoming events. 
  • Be aware of emergency exits at all events. 
  • Students and alumni should be aware of their surroundings and should report any suspicious activity to authorities. 
  • Do not leave doors to residence halls propped opened for unauthorized entry. 
  • Students should have their valid Hornet ID CARD on them at all times.  
  • Extra lighting will be provided for safety (parking lots, plots, crossways…) 

Event Information – Alumni and Student Policy 

  • Come with your ID CARD & Room Keys Only-Leave Everything Else Behind! 
  • No “In and Out” of any event! 
  • Outside food will not be allowed in any event! 
  • Confiscated items taken will not be returned! 
  • PBT Alcohol testing will be conducted! Underage drinking will not be tolerated.  
  • ALL TICKETS ARE SOLD ON-LINE AT dsuhornets.universitytickets.com  
  • TAPED, FADED, CRACKED OR BENT ID CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! 
  • The University Reserves the Right to Refuse or Deny Anyone Entrance!!! 
  • NO REFUNDS!!!!!!   

Homecoming is a great and memorable time for the Delaware State University Community. This annual event can be ruined by the unguarded moment when crime can occur.
