Delaware House Passes Inspire Scholarship 4th Year Bill
Delaware State University found some joy at the Delaware General Assembly on April 18 as the House of Representatives unanimously passed Senate Bill 90, legislation which would add a fourth year to the state-funded Inspire Scholarship.
The original Inspire Scholarship law, enacted in 2010, provided state funding that covered only the first three undergraduate years for eligible Delaware students. That left such students searching for funds to pay for their senior year.
Because SB 90 previously passed the state Senate, now the measure needs only the signature of Gov. John Carney to be enacted into law.
Through the first seven years of the Inspire Scholarship, more than 1,700 Delaware high school graduates have already been afforded the opportunity to attend DSU. Nearly 350 of these students have already graduated and entered the workforce.
