Office of Online Advising and Student Success Established
In response to the growing demand for online education, Delaware State University (DSU) has established an Office of Online Advisement and Student Success to enhance support for the increasing number of online student enrollments.
Charmaine A. Whyte, the inaugural director, is at the helm of this groundbreaking endeavor, which creates dedicated advisors for online students. “With her visionary leadership and dedication to student success, Ms. Whyte leads an exceptional team that empowers online and distance scholars to excel academically and professionally,” said Terry Jeffries, Assistant Dean of Graduate, Adult & Extended Studies.
Ms. Whyte oversees an Online Advisement Office that includes Kelly Golson, Graduate Professional Advisor, Taylor McIntosh, Online Undergraduate Advisor, and two Online Success Coaches, Kessiah Cunningham and Mikel Houston, who provide personalized guidance and support to students navigating the online learning environment.
According to Ms. Whyte, the primary goal of the Online Advisement Office is to provide comprehensive support to online learners, ensure that they have the resources and guidance necessary to thrive academically, and ultimately retain them until they complete their degree programs.
“Our mission goes beyond merely preparing students for jobs. We are dedicated to fostering a career progression that will result in professional fulfillment and meaningful contributions to the global community,” Ms. Whyte said. “The Office of Online Advisement and Student Success at DSU is committed to shaping the next generation of community, national, and international leaders through personalized support, proactive advising, and a commitment to student success.”
