Homecoming Parade Registration

Delaware State University is planning the biggest, best Homecoming Parade ever, and we want YOUR band, group, motorcycle, car club, etc. to be a part of it! Student organization floats, the Approaching Storm Marching Band, colleges, departments, and community organizations are all a part of this great tradition. The Homecoming Parade will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

float guidelines

  • Float construction must not exceed 40 feet in length. Any floats exceeding 40 feet will be pulled from the parade lineup.
  • All floats must be safely constructed.
  • Float themes should be appropriate and in good taste.  Any float that displays a message that is deemed inappropriate or in poor taste will be pulled from the parade. 
  • Floats must be structurally sound and safely designed. The main platform must not have holes or hollow areas where someone could fall through. 
  • Playing music with the use of profanity is prohibited.
  • All drivers must be over 21 with a valid driver’s license.
  • Throwing hard items to the crowd during the parade is strictly prohibited. Prohibited items include but are not limited to candy, beads and/or fliers. Entrants may have members of their organizations walk beside their float and hand out giveaway items.

Line-up

Parade participants will line up in the Legislative Mall area along Federal Street and North and South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevards. University parade workers will be on-site to assist with the parade lineup placement.
 
Will begin at 8:00 a.m. across from City Hall on Loockerman Street, downtown Dover on Saturday, October 5th. The parade will launch promptly at 10:00 a.m.
