Dr. Bernardine Lacey Honored as Nursing Living Legend
Dr. Bernardine Lacey, former acting chair of the DSU Department of Nursing, has been recognized as a “Living Legend” by the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).
Dr. Lacey along with three others received that honor during an Oct. 16 ceremony as part of the AAN’s Transforming Health, Driving Policy Conference held in Washington, D.C.
The AAN recognized Dr. Lacey for starting the movement to include the care of the underserved in nursing curriculum, which in turn made the nursing profession better prepared to care for the most vulnerable in society.
The Living Legend Award is the highest honor presented by the AAN.
