DSU to Present “The Wiz” Nov. 13-14

Delaware State University will present the student production of The Wiz in three performances on Nov. 13 and 14 in the Education and Humanities Theater on campus.

(L-r) Courtney Porter, Asha T. Moses and Jamie Gage will provide some strong dance moves in the DSU production of The Wiz.

The production will be performed by a cast of 30 and will feature such music classics such as “Ease on Down the Road,” “Home,” “Be a Lion,” and “If You Believe.” It will also feature fast moving, tantalizing and foot-stomping dancing created by student choreographers Ariael Brooks Porter, Jme Trafton, and LaQuita Williams

The cast includes the following DSU students:  Chaya Mayo as “Dorothy”; Taylor Brown as “Addapearle”; Harry Hudson as “Scarecrow”; Andrew Hazzard as “Tinman”; Tyrone Ashley Jr. as “The Lion”; Paul Menyweather as “The Wiz”; Bria Borders as “Evillene” Jasmine Salberrios as “Glinda”; Harry Hudson as “Lord High Underling”; and Jack Jackson as “Uncle Henry/Head Flying.” 

The production will also feature DSU alumna Ashleigh J.T. Summers as “Auntie Em,” as well as an ensemble of 20 additional student actors and dancers.

The Tony-award winning and legendary classic musical will be directed by Dr. Shirlyn Henry Brown. The music director will be Dr. David Tolley.

The Wiz will open with a 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee performance followed by an evening 7:30 p.m. performance both on Friday, Nov. 14 performance.

Tickets are $10 for the general public and free for DSU students with I.D. Tickets can be purchased through the DSU Ticket Office at (302) 857-TIXX (8499)
