DSU Hosts Meeting with Kent Co. State Legislators
Kent County’s state legislators paid DSU a visit on Dec. 11 to meet with DSU President Harry L. Williams and other administrators to receive an update the latest priorities and projects of the University.

The full group of Kent County state legislators included: Sen. Brian Bushweller, Sen. Colin, Bonini, Rep. Bill Carson, Rep. Harvey Kenton, Rep. Sean Lynn, Rep. Bobby Outten, Rep. Trey Paradee, Rep. Jeff Spiegelman and Rep. Lyndon Yearick.
Dr. Williams – along with Dr. Alton Thompson, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs; Dr. Teresa Hardee, vice president of Finance; Dr. Noureddine Melikechi, vice president of Research Innovation and Economic Development; and Victor Santos, University government relations liaison, Tom Preston, University general counsel; and Valerie Dinkins, special assistant for Institutional Advancement for the president – discussed DSU’s priorities with the legislators during a lunch meeting.
The legislators received updates on the University’s work to evaluate all of its academic programs; its latest performances in the areas of enrollment, retention and graduation rates; its 2015 state budget requests, DSU’s work with the Gates Foundation, the Convocation Center initiative, the Pedestrian Study improvements, and other priorities.
Dr. Williams also noted the meeting was an opportunity to thank the state legislators for their support of the University over the years.
