Gov. Markell signs Land Grant Proclamation at DSU
Gov. Jack Markell kicked off DSU’s commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the 1890 Morrill Act by signing a proclamation April 21 making this week “1890 Land-Grant University Week.”
The 1890 Morrill Act was the enabling federal legislation that provided funding to the State of Delaware to established the then-State College for Colored Students (now-Delaware State University) in 1891.
Since DSU’s humble beginnings, the institution has produced more than 19,000 college and university graduates.
