Bassist Roberto Vally to Hold Masterclasses March 17

The music wizardry of bassist Roberto Vally will be featured during a day-long “Masterclass” that will culminate in an evening informal concert on March 17 in the Education and Humanities Theatre at DSU.
All masterclass sessions – which will begin with an 11 a.m. session and end with a 7 p.m. informal concert – are free and open to the public.
Roberto Vally’s performing and recording career has spanned decades, genres and nations, and continues to be a consummate work in progress. He has performed and/or recorded with George Benson, Jeffrey Osborne, All Jarreau, Boney James, Spyro Gyra, and others. In addition to his contributions to the works of other artists, his electric and acoustic bass artistry is featured on his 2014 album “Boom, Boom, Boom.”
The Roberto Vally Masterclass schedule will include:
- 11 a.m. – Masterclass intro and general presentation.
- 12 noon – A rehearsal with the DSU Ensembles.
- 1:30 p.m. – Music Publishing Class – “The Business and Music Contracts.”
- 3 p.m. – Jazz Workshop with the DSU Jazz Band.
- 4:30 p.m. – Elements of Jazz (with Dr. Carla Becker).
- 7 p.m. – An informal concert featuring Mr. Vally.
In addition to the 7 p.m. concert, the public is welcome to attend and observe the other masterclass sessions that will take place throughout the day.
