There were 15 contestants in this year’s tournament who spoke for three minutes each on a topic related to the common theme, “Race in the Criminal Justice System.”
The event was coordinated by Dr. Sam Hoff and cosponsored by the DSU Law Studies Program, the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Delaware Barristers Association (DBA). Four attorneys from the DBA served as judges for the tournament, including Jordan Perry, Kiadii Harmon, Vanessa Phillips, and Loren Holland.
Each of the top three finishers received a certificate; the top three and two honorable mentions earned a monetary award furnished by the DBA, which contributed a total of $1100 toward the tournament. A crowd of about 75 faculty and students watched the event and enjoyed a reception following the competition.
