Pastor E.A. Adeboye Receives President’s Leadership Award

DSU President Harry L. Williams presented Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye, worldwide general overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, with the President’s Leadership Award during the denomination’s Holy Ghost Festival of Life which drew over 3,500 of its members from all over the east coast.

The festival filled up DSU’s Memorial Hall Gymnasium, necessitating the use of overflow areas in the University’s Wellness and Recreation Center and the Longwood Auditorium of the Bank of America Building. The overflow areas were equipped with large screen monitors that broadcasted the live program taking place in Memorial Hall.

The award recognized to work of both Pastor Adeboye and his wife Foluke – who is a co-pastor with her husband – by citing the following accomplishments:

For Pastor Enoch A Adeboye’s visionary worldwide leadership of the Redeemed Christian of God (RCCG), which has extended to the 10 churches in the denomination’s Delaware Zone. The 36-year overseer leadership of the Pastor E.A. Adeboye has led to the transformation of a few parish branches in Nigeria to a global evangelistic and church-planting organization – currently with a presence in 196 countries around the world, including the U.S. where RCCG is established in 24 states.

In a remarkable extended demonstration of leadership and faith, Pastor E.A. Adeboye’s revolutionary leadership has converted an area near Lagos known as a “den of robbers and wild animals” into Redemption City, which has of 10,000 residents, a three-kilometer by three-kilometer auditorium, Redeemer University, Redeemed Christian Bible College, commercial businesses, a 10-megawatt power generation plant and other municipal characteristics.

Mrs. Foluke Adenike Adeboye, the general overseer’s  and co-pastor, is also commended for her passion for planting Christian schools, her contributions to the Nigerian education sector, and her founding of the Christ the Redeemer’s Schools Movement. As a missionary and minister, she is known throughout her denomination and country as a role model – “Mother in Israel” – for her rare gifts of administration, planning, hospitality, counseling, mentoring, ministering, comfort, care and encouragement.   

Delaware State University therefore commends Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye and his wife Pastor Foluke Adenike Adeboye for their accomplishments in Nigeria and the exponential impact it has in the RCCG’s development throughout the world.
