Sháe Ross wins 2nd place in national stage competiton
Sháe Ross was only supposed to be an alternative contestant at the National Association of Dramatic and Speech Arts (NADSA) competition.
However, with a scheduling conflict preventing DSU’s primary contestant from competing, Ms. Ross took the stage in her place and won the second place trophy in the Oral Interpretation of Prose category.
Ms. Ross – a junior criminal justice major from Cherry Hill, N.J. – earned the second-place prize by performing an excerpt of Chris Wind’s Snow White Gets Her Say.
Ms. Ross flew to the competition – held at Dillard University in New Orleans, La., as part of the 82nd annual NADSA Conference – along with Dr. Shirlyn Brown, DSU adjunct instructor and theatre director.
In addition to representing the DSU Theatre Program, Ms. Ross also represented the Alpha Phi Omega Theatre Honor Society. According to Dr. Brown, 22 universities from across the country participated in the NADSA competition.
