DSU announces new appointments
Delaware State University has recently announced two new leadership appointments:
Jackie Griffith has been appointed as the University’s new Director of Government and Community Relations.
In this DSU leadership post, Ms. Griffith will maintain effective political advocacy efforts at the local, state and federal levels, as well as leverage community partnerships and contacts.
Ms. Griffith has served the State of Delaware for 19 years. Over the last year, she has been the chief of fiscal policy in the Office of the Controller General, a post in which she provided guidance and support to the members of the Delaware General Assembly regarding advance fiscal and policy matters.
Prior to that, Ms. Griffith was a legislative projects manager with the state Department of Transportation, in which she managed legislators’ transportation improvement funds in excess of tens of millions of dollars. Ms. Griffith served in the United States Air Force and Delaware Air National Guard.
Ms. Griffith possesses an Associate Degree in Financial Management from the Community College of the Air Force and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration Management from Wesley College in Dover.
Dr. Michael H. Casson Jr., associate professor of economics, has been appointed as the Interim Dean of the College of Business.
Dr. Casson is the founding executive director of the University Center for Economic Development and International Trade. He has been a University College of Business faculty member since 2003. During his tenure, he has served as the interim dean of Graduate Studies, the interim chair of the Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance, as well as in other leadership positions.
He will serve as interim dean while a Search Committee works diligently toward the selection of a permanent dean for the college.
