University’s Rotaract Club takes part in Military Appreciation Day
The Rotaract Chapter at Delaware State University recently took part in “Military Apprciation Day” at Dover Air Force Base on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The City of Dover enlisted the Rotaract students in the community service work at this annual event, which brings military families and veterans together in a picnic-like setting for some food and music.
The University students helped in the kitchen and at the grills, assisting in the distribution of food and drinks to the families. The Rotaract members also helped supervise military children who were playing in the Moon Bounce as well as in the face painting activity.
Mayor Christiansen recognized and thanked the University’s Rotatract Club and their Advisor Dr. Esosa Iriowen for their community service at not only at the DAFB event, but also for their work in the Dover community since March 2018.
The University’s Rotaract Club, currently with a membership of 64 students, is sponsored by the Dover Capital City Rotary Club. The organization was established under their sponsorship on March 16, 2018.
