Held in the Bank of America Building on campus, Delaware State University was the only institution of higher education in Delaware and among Historically Black Colleges and Universities to observe Women’s Entrepreneurship Week with an event, according to Lillie Crawford, director of the Center for Enterprise Development and event organizer.
The observance kicked off with an Entrepreneurship Forum, which featured as its keynote speaker Linda Arrey, a nonprofit consultant, published author (Memoirs of a Working Mother) and the CEO of Women in Leadership Development, Inc.
Ms. Arrey spoke to the gathering about the importance of maximizing personal capital, doing market research, setting goals and making oneself accountable.
The event also featured a workshop and panel discussion designed to empower and encourage women entrepreneurs, as well as offer strategies for running a successful business.
An Entrepreneurship Fair was held as part of the event, as 20 women-owned businesses promoted and sold their products.
