Men’s Lacrosse Sports Club receives equipment donation
Delaware State University has partnered with Next Level Sports & Entertainment (NLSE), which has led to significant equipment support for the newest campus sports club – the DSU Men’s Lacrosse Team.
Next Level Sports & Entertainment recently donated more than $50,000 worth of lacrosse equipment to the Men’s Lacrosse Sports Club, which is under University Wellness and Recreation Center.
It is part of a Next Level initiative to fund and organize an NCL (Next Collegiate Level) Olympic Style Lacrosse League for MEAC schools. As a kickoff, the league hosted its first games at the University of Maryland, College last weekend.
The DSU Men’s Lacrosse Team represented itself well in an April 10 doubleheader, defeating the University of Maryland Eastern Shore 30-5 and Lincoln University 15-3.
The DSU Men’s Lacrosse Team will play another doubleheader on April 17 against Bowie State University and Coppin State University.
“This initiative was a perfect fit for DSU WellRec in that it allowed us to grow our already established sport club program that includes soccer, flag football and volleyball,” said Jordin Williams, Director of the Wellness and Recreation Center.
Ms. Williams noted that sport clubs participation has a myriad of benefits for students. It allows students to represent the university name while competing against other colleges and universities, thus increasing school pride and a sense of belonging/connectedness to the university. It also provides endless leadership development opportunities like any other registered student organization through the management of the club.
Sport clubs are not affiliated with NCAA or its conferences of intercollegiate school teams. The DSU Men’s Lacrosse Sport Club is an authorized University student organization that also plays against other schools.
