EH Theatre receives 2022 Excellence in Construction Award
The Associated Builders and Contractors of Delaware recently awarded the Audiovisual System in Delaware State University’s Education & Humanities Theatre a “2022 Excellence in Construction Award.”
Assurance Media was awarded the bid for the project and the subsequent $1.52 million renovation work on the EH Theatre led to the award. The Assurance Media team worked collaboratively wit IT to design and build a comprehensive audiovisual system for Delaware State University’s theatre. The project included a new sound array BOSE System, direct view LED 135’ displays, automated tracking cameras, and a custom control system to accommodate the university’s needs.
The EH Theatre is a 985-seat concert hall that hosts the majority of student, faculty, and guest performances. The theater is home to the music program’s nine-foot Steinway concert grand piano and is one of the largest performing spaces in the state. While implementing a modern audio-visual technology solution for the EH theater, Assurance Media provided Delaware State University excellent project management, technical expertise, and professional services.
This project was a unique challenge due to the complexity of the solution being implemented, in addition, the project was performed during the pandemic, which presented its own set of challenges. Assurance Media not only met but exceeded all expectation that were required of them. They met strenuous deadlines, successfully completed all deliverables and milestones, accommodated all change requests, and delivered excellent communication to all stakeholders involved in the project to include on the DSU side (Darrell McMillon, Chief Information Officer; Dr. Irene Chapman- Hawkins, Chief Administrative Officer; Russell Weaver, Technical Director; and Charmaine Babb, Director of Planning and Special Projects).
Delaware State University is very satisfied with the solution that Assurance Media has implemented in the EH Theater. The solution implemented, provides modernization and enhancement to an essential facility that will be utilized for years to come on the Delaware State University campus.
