DSU CURE Loockerman dedicated in Downtown Dover

Thursday, October 24, 2024

Delaware State University’s College of Business has dedicated its second facility near DSU Downtown – CURE Loockerman – that will support the development of small businesses as part of the state capital’s economic development efforts.

The CURE building – located at 205 S. State St. – was dedicated during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 24.

CURE (Center for Urban Revitalization and Entrepreneurship) Loockerman will focus on stimulating entrepreneur development through small business incubator programming and targeted training in the areas of marketing, branding, accounting and business planning. The building provides shared workspace that will facilitate collaborations among entrepreneurs.

In addition to creating an environment for innovation and creative growth, CURE Loockerman will actively engage civic and community leaders to help develop an environment in which small business can be created and developed to thrive.

Four blocks southwest of CURE Loockerman, in September the College of Business dedicated another CURE Building on the corner of W. Division and N. New streets. In addition to sharing some building space with NeighborGood Partner (formerly NCALL), the CURE Division St. initiative will focus on addressing the factors that impact entrepreneurship success – such as education, financial literacy, mental health, social networks, and family structure.

“Today, as we celebrate the ribbon cutting of CURE Loockerman, we are also reaffirming our commitment to the entrepreneurial spirit of Dover,” said Dr. Michael Casson Jr., Dean of the College of Business. “Together with CURE Division, these centers will empower diverse entrepreneurs and foster innovative business ventures, driving economic growth throughout our community.”

The CURE Loockerman initiative has received financial support from Wells Fargo, PNC Bank, and TD Bank.
